Molly’s surgery went well. She had a spinal block, so was awake and alert. She hates anesthesia, so did not want to be “put out”. The doctor put a rod inside her femur and a couple of bolts to hold it in place. She will have to use a walker for at least 6 weeks. Molly, as usual, is in great spirits.

She said Anne (Thomas) went down gracefully, but she (Molly) just went “splat”.

Molly will probably be coming home Wednesday, January 19, but she will, knowing her, try to talk the doctors into releasing her Tuesday. She wants to have Home Health come here for any rehabilitation work she needs. Tomorrow, she will be up “practicing” walking with a walker and doing what the doctor called ‘toe taps’, just to keep and the muscles and nerves working; but she cannot put any weight at all on it, yet.

She really appreciates the calls, visits and emails.

The Bay Medical hospital staff has been fantastic. Molly was the only surgical patient this morning, so she had the undivided attention of the surgical staff. Even the food is good. Somebody has done a good job reorienting the Bay Med personnel, as the staff has been great. It was not like that a few years ago….

I made my first trip to G. Rodman Porter Day and wanted to share with each of you what a great time was had.

Besides the wonderful fellowship and great meal that was provided. The interaction with other MM’s from our district was great. The knowledge and Masonic wisdom shared by our elder brothers is priceless.

I hope to see you all there next year.

Stopped by to see Charlie a few minutes ago. He is doing better and hopes to go home soon. They were not feeding him yet. The good news is they think the tumor was taken out and will require no chemo,etc.
